Lead UI/UX Designer

Lead the design process from brief to pixel-perfect handoff — and set the design standard for everything Ontwikkelaars ships.

About Ontwikkelaars

Design at Ontwikkelaars isn't an afterthought. Our clients choose us partly because we build software that looks good and works well. We're looking for a Lead Designer who maintains that standard, shapes our design practice, and works closely with engineers and product people.

The role

As Lead UI/UX Designer, you're responsible for the design of multiple client products. You translate vague briefs into clear flows and visually strong interfaces. You build and maintain design systems, manage design communication with clients, and make sure the handoff to engineering is clean and complete.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design process from discovery and wireframes to high-fidelity Figma designs
  • Build and maintain design systems used across multiple products
  • Conduct user research, usability tests, and iterate based on feedback
  • Work with engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible and correctly implemented
  • Present design decisions to clients and the internal team

What you bring

  • A demonstrable portfolio with multiple real, live products you've designed
  • Deep knowledge of Figma, including components, auto-layout, and prototyping
  • Experience building scalable design systems
  • Strong sense of both usability and visual aesthetics — you excel at both
  • Bonus: experience with motion design or micro-interactions in Figma or After Effects

What we offer

  • Salary: €4,000–€5,500 per month, depending on experience
  • Hardware budget: €1,500 at start — including Figma Professional and Adobe CC
  • Learning budget: €1,000 per year for workshops, conferences, and courses
  • 25 vacation days
  • Fully remote, with freedom to shape your own working process

How to apply

Send your portfolio and a brief explanation of your design process to careers@ontwikkelaars.nl. We're interested in your reasoning, not just the final result.
